Sleep Page for WellPD

Using the Sleep Page

The Sleep Page in the WellPD app tracks your sleep patterns. It shows information such as your total sleep time, bed and wake times, turns and tosses, and sleep interruptions.

These insights can help you understand your sleep habits and support better sleep quality over time.

For individuals with Parkinson’s, sleep quality can affect overall health and motor symptoms, so tracking it with the Sleep Page can be helpful.

WellPD does not diagnose or make treatment recommendations based solely on sleep tracking. Instead, it provides insights to support you and your doctor in determining the best approach to your care.

How to access your Sleep Page

  1. Open the WellPD app and tap My diary.
  2. View your daily summary for an overview of your daily data. For more details, see this article in our Support Center: Accessing My Diary and your daily summary.
  3. Tap Last night’s sleep to open your Sleep Page.

Sleep time, turns & tosses, and interruptions

  • Sleep time (light blue): The period when you are sleeping, including the time you spend still in bed before falling asleep.
  • Turns & tosses (dark blue): Movements during sleep, such as changing positions or brief awakenings.
  • Interruptions: Periods when your sleep is interrupted, shown as gaps in the sleep visualization representing times you were awake.

This visualization focuses on nighttime sleep, tracking rest periods from 6 p.m. to noon the following day. Shorter rests under two hours and daytime naps are not shown unless they overlap with this timeframe.

Effective vs. total sleep time

Effective sleep is the time spent in uninterrupted sleep, without significant turns, tosses, or interruptions. Higher effective sleep time reflects more restorative rest.

Sleep time comparison

Here, you can see the time you went to bed and woke up for the selected day, compared to your average over the past 7 days.

Regular sleep patterns support your body's natural rhythms. Consistent sleep and wake times can improve both sleep quality and symptom management.

Sleep fragmentation and efficiency

  • Sleep fragmentation: Reflects how much your sleep was disturbed by movements or restlessness, shown as a percentage. Lower fragmentation generally indicates a more restful night.
  • Sleep efficiency: Measures the quality of your sleep. Higher efficiency indicates less disrupted sleep.

Weekly, monthly, and yearly trends

Tracking your sleep patterns over time can help you understand how rest affects your daily life. By monitoring these trends, you can identify how much sleep you need and make more informed choices about your sleep habits.

In the next section, we'll explain each metric of the trends in your Sleep Page.

Effective sleep average

  • Sleep periods (light blue): Times when you were asleep.
  • Turns & tosses (dark blue): Movements during sleep, indicating restlessness or brief awakenings.

This visualization focuses on nighttime sleep, covering rest periods from 6 p.m. to noon the following day. Shorter rests of less than two hours, as well as daytime naps, are excluded unless they overlap with this timeframe.
